Back to In the Press Main BABCO CONSTRUCTION, INC. COMPLETES EXPANSION FOR AMERISUITES HOTEL IN CHICAGO CHICAGO ­ Lawrence H. Goldman, President of Babco Construction, Inc. is pleased to announce that the firm has completed a 165,280 square foot expansion and renovation project for the AmeriSuites Hotel O'Hare in Chicago, Illinois. Located at 8101 West Higgins in Chicago, the project consisted of the addition of a new seven-story steel frame tower and renovations to the existing ten-story precast building. The 245 guest suite hotel is a steel frame and glazed curtain wall structure with composite steel deck floors, precast concrete and EIFS. The expansion included additional underground parking, an indoor pool, an Outback Steakhouse, as well as a meeting and conference rooms. The AmeriSuites Hotel O'Hare features a mechanical system consisting of a two-pipe horizontal fan coil unit with chilled water cooling and electric heating. In addition to the existing tower’s three passenger elevators, a new hydraulic service elevator and an electric geared shuttle car were installed to service the entire hotel. BABCO Construction was selected as the general contractor by developers Friedman Properties, First Hospitality Group, and Miglin Properties LLC. Dan Sharps, Executive Project Manager, Paul Turilli, Project Manager and Tom Loftus, Superintendent oversaw the construction team for BABCO Construction.
